#1 Mouth Kote Dry Mouth Spray – great for chemotherapy “metallic taste”.

Promising review: "My mom was having an issue related to chemotherapy. Basically everything she ate or drank tasted metallic and made her gag. I spent about two hours researching this and many cancer support groups seemed to think Mouth Kote would help with the problem.

To my delight it has been a wonderful help to my mom. She takes two squirts before eating or drinking and it almost completely eliminates the metallic taste. Obviously this is not the intended purpose of this product, but it works.

Hopefully someone else with the same problem is helped by this review." - Amazon Customer

#2 Mberry Miracle Fruit Tablets – because an oncology nurse that she is friends with suggested it.

Promising review: "I purchased this for my mother who is currently undergoing some powerful chemotherapy. During her first chemo, she hated everything because everything tasted like metal and it was short of pulling teeth to get her to eat something. She called me and asked me to order her this because an oncology nurse that she is friends with suggested it. During her second chemo she ate all her normal foods and actually enjoyed it making the entire process of eating during chemo a small miracle. We were so happy that she was eating because of this that we ordered more immediately!" - Jenben

Promising review: "This is a definite plus to have, as of recently my mother was diagnosed with HER2 positive breast cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy. I wanted to have her prepared for when the side effects take place and start to prevent further problems existing. I was worried of her losing her appetite because of how the med's will alter your taste buds, so I bought these. I had bought these years ago because I was curious about them and they were fantastic! They made sour things taste sweet, it enhanced the tastes and I can see why many people who are cancer patients or have problems with eating can benefit from this little miracle tab. I highly recommend this for anyone that may benefit from this." - Yvonne M.

#3 Ribena Blackcurrant Concentrate – when water tastes bad it really tastes bad.

"Ribena (or your favourite squash) - When water tastes bad it really tastes bad, so having flavourings on hand was a real lifesaver. Ribena does remind me of the chemo drug epirubicin now though (along with cranberry juice), so you might want to choose something a little less red in colour! Fruit juices can feel a bit too acidic at times." - source: breastcancercare.org.uk

#6 This was suggested to me by my dietician

Promising review: "This was suggested to me by my dietician one day during chemotherapy. She provided me with a small 2 oz. sample. I didn’t think it would work since I’ve tried all suggested products and some old wives tales. Desperate for any relief no matter how long it lasted or didn’t, I tried it. I went off the suggested amount which is a teaspoon so it isn’t a lot unlike a normal mouthwash and it is powerful! The mint was strong and it has a kick that was very refreshing and helped with the metallic taste I get after treatment. I started using it up to three times a day, in the morning after brushing my teeth and 20-30 minutes before lunch and dinner and it helps tremendously. For me, MetaQil doesn’t take all the metallic taste away, but I’m no longer uncomfortable. I was looking for relief and this product delivered. It is a bit pricy for the 8 oz. bottle however, my comfort and confidence is worth a lot more." - efw77

#7 The lemon sours are FANTASTIC!

Promising review: "The lemon sours are FANTASTIC! Not only do they taste great they do a service for people with cancer. Chemotherapy and even radiation causes a metallic taste in the mouth. I've heard so many complain that foods tastes different or they can't get rid of "this metallic taste in my mouth when not eating" I found this out when my mom had cancer. These took that metallic taste away. We gave them to people in the cancer ward and chemo room. They were so thankful to be able to actually taste these great candies. These candies eliminated the metallic taste for the people undergoing treatment. It was only the lemon flavor though. I give them to everyone. They are delicious. If you like lemon they are the best and they don't cut your mouth like some other hard candies do when you move them around in your mouth." - Forensic Doc
